Exercise is not equal.

Why spend twice as much time getting half the results?

 

In the Journal of Exercise Physiology, December 2004, in the article STRENGTH TRAINING METHODS AND THE WORK OF ARTHUR JONES by Dave Smith and Steward Bruce-Low from the University College Chester, University of Liverpool,begins:


This paper reviews research evidence relating to the strength training advice offered by Arthur Jones, founder and retired Chairman of Nautilus Sports/Medical Industries and

MedX Corporation. Jones advocated that those interested in improving their muscular size, strength, power and/or endurance should perform one set of each exercise to muscular failure, train each muscle group no more than twice per week, perform each exercise in a slow, controlled manner and perform a moderate number of repetitions

(for most people 8-12 repetitions).

This advice is very different to the strength training guidelines offered by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the American College of Sports Medicine

and most exercise physiology textbooks.

However, in contrast to the lack of scientific support for most of the recommendations made by NSCA and ACSM and such books, Jones' training advise is strongly supported by the peer-reviewed scientific literature, a statement that has recently been supported by a review of American College of Sports Medicine resistance training guidelines. Therefore, we strongly recommend Jones' methods to athletes and coaches, as they are time-efficient and optimally efficacious, and note that, given his considerable contribution to the field of strength training, academic recognition of this

contribution is long overdue.

Milton Jimenez, Orlando personal trainer, martial artist and licensed massage therapist, has been practicing healthcare and fitness for 30 years. He competed nationally in martial arts tournaments winning over 40 trophies and the Telly Award for his CombatCardio Kickboxing television show. Milton's private personal training sessions in Orlando are 20 minutes of high-powered exercise and education. His unique background of kinesiology, personal training, musculoskeletal anatomy,physiology and pathology allows him to customize training sessions to your personal needs and goals.

Cynthia Jimenez, B.F.A., Orlando personal trainer, fine artist and licensed massage therapist, has devoted her life studies to the musculoskeletal system for over 25 years. She taught musculoskeletal anatomy nationally for over 10 years to healthcare practitioners, occupational therapists, physical therapists, doctors, and massage therapists. Cynthia taught gross anatomy continuing education courses at the University of South Florida Medical School for 7 years expanding her knowledge of anatomy and physiology. She applies this experience and education to her Orlando personal training practice. Her private personal training sessions in Orlando are 20 minutes of concentrated exercise and mobilization therapy to restore and improve core strength,flexibility, balance, posture and physical form.
